Dear sir or madame, (or Persis Hilton) please accept this letter as my notice of of intent to terminate my employment effective on September 25, 2009. As stipulated under the employment contract, herein is my two week notice of intent to voluntarily terminate my employment with your company.
It is with remorse and sadness that I must tender this letter of resignation. The past 9 years of employment within your firm has given me opportunities to grow both professionally and personally. Regretfully, however, of late, the working atmosphere has become intolerable. The reduction in pay and required over time has rendered the specific tasks and the position in general, unmaintainable. Further more, the decision by the board last week to remove the coffee maker in a vain effort to reduce costs is not only absurd but ultimately, has been self defeating.
However, I do not wish to paint a pathetic picture of a disgruntled employee looking back in anger. My long tenure as Lead PC technician and Help-Desk Support Supervisor speaks volumes, as to my former dedication to both my profession and to the company. I still retain several fond memories of close working relationships with my co-workers and the all you can eat saltine crackers provided up until recently.
It is with some trepidation though that I tender this, my letter of resignation. To leave a company that has provided for and often supported and promoted my desire to be on the cutting-edge of technology was not an easy choice to come to. It is/was a choice in the end that had to be made, as I feel at this juncture, the company can no longer or is unwilling to provide that personal impulse to strive to greater heights and help me achieve the life goals I wish to. In order to continue to grow professionally and personally and despite any feelings of loyalty I feel it is time to seek employment else where.
Again, it is not without a fair amount of reluctance that I hereby give you my formal two week notice in writing. It is although, most regretfully the proper choice at this moment in time so effective in two working weeks my employment with your firm will end.
