Once you have told your employer that you are leaving your job, it’s a good idea to follow up with a resignation letter. The main purpose of such a letter is to ensure that your resignation and last day of work are documented.  There are just a few things to keep in mind so you write a great letter.

Keep it simple. Good resignation letters require no more than three paragraphs. In the first, state your intention of leaving your job and the date you plan to do so. In the second, give the reason why you are leaving. If at all possible, keep this positive. Rather than make a list of your grievances, say that you are leaving for another opportunity.
